Igniting a Passion for Reading and Learning

The Book Buddies Club mission is to foster a love for reading among children and families in our community. Book Buddies Club is a fun and engaging program designed to provide free books, promote literacy, and empower young minds. With the support of our community and partners, we embark on a journey of imagination and knowledge!

Book Buddies Club is expanding home libraries with a wide selection of age-appropriate and engaging books. Since 2020, the Club has distributed over 8,000 free books to children and youth in Rancho Cordova. Each book is carefully selected to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading.

Making an Impact

Every book distributed through Book Buddies Club is stickered with a QR code that leads readers and families to free family literacy resources on our Kiwanis Club of Rancho Cordova website. Our club is committed to the continued production of book club tips, discussion guides, and additional reading and literacy resources that enhance the reading experience and encourage meaningful conversations at home.

“A family that reads together succeeds together.”

The Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund was established in 1965 in response to the devastating floods in the Northern California town of Klamath. Looking for a way to give back, Kiwanians from across the Cal-Nev-Ha District pooled their funds to rebuild the town.

Since 1965, the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund has been meeting the needs of children within our three-state district.

Much has changed since the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund was founded; however, one thing has remained constant: the mission to build a better future for children.

The mission of the Cal-Nev-Ha Children's Fund is to build a better future for our children by providing grant funding, scholarships & leadership training and through their innovative Pediatric Trauma Program.

The mission of the Kiwanis Family house is to build a supportive, healing community around families who are impacted by medical emergencies.

Their vision is to create a place of respite that does not burden families or individuals financially, while they are seeking the medical care they need.

The Kiwanis Family House encourages the following core values:

  • Service and Generosity

  • Dedication to Dignity for each Individual

  • Respect for Families

  • Collaboration

Donations help the Kiwanis Family House provide a convenient, restful, secure, and low cost housing alternative for the families of children and adults being treated for serious illness or injury at the University of California, Davis, Medical Center, Sacramento, and Shriner’s Hospital.

Kids need Kiwanis. The Kiwanis Children's Fund helps reach them, amplifying impact in communities around the world.

Thanks to the generosity of clubs and members, the Children’s Fund provides grants to help Kiwanians change kids’ lives — in clubs’ communities and a world away.

The mission of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund is to develop resources that transform the goodwill and vision of Kiwanians into programs that serve the children of the world.

Focus is on issues Kiwanians care about, particularly in the areas of education and literacy, health and nutrition, and youth leadership development — as well as efforts to fight maternal and neonatal tetanus and iodine deficiency disorders.
